A science fantasy mystery set on Enkiya
The novel is set on Enkiya, a living world where five elemental suns colour the heavens and ancient civilisation exists alongside astonishing technology — neither a conventional historical fantasy realm nor a familiar science-fiction future. A violent blue storm brings an unexpected visitor to an isolated estate; what first appears to be a request for shelter soon becomes a situation shaped by secrecy, suspicion and deception. Inside the estate, no one is completely transparent: every stranger carries a hidden history, every conversation may hold another meaning, and every answer changes the shape of the mystery. Beyond the estate lies a larger question — what are the watchful Eyes of the Anuvara, and what do they reveal about the world of Enkiya?
When detective fiction enters a science fantasy world
The book uses the structure of a mystery story inside a richly imagined speculative world. The detective-fiction element is built around observation, concealed motives, incomplete information and the interpretation of clues; the science-fantasy element comes through the world itself — elemental suns, old civilisations, advanced technology and a reality whose rules are not immediately explained. This lets the novel move between two kinds of discovery: the personal (who can be trusted inside the estate?) and the cosmological (what kind of world is Enkiya, and how do the Eyes relate to its hidden order?). It suits readers who enjoy science fantasy mystery, speculative detective fiction and stories where world-building is revealed through investigation rather than exposition alone.
A story about observation, trust and hidden meaning
At the centre of the novel is the idea that seeing is not the same as understanding. A person may observe an event without recognising its significance; a conversation may appear ordinary while concealing a larger intention; a technologically advanced society may still be governed by ancient fears. The story explores the limits of observation, the difference between evidence and interpretation, the danger of judging a stranger too quickly, the relationship between ancient knowledge and new technology, and the way a first mystery can open into a much larger world. Why this release is part of my wider creative journey
My primary work has been in music, composition, production and education, and that background shapes how I approach fiction — through structure, rhythm, recurring ideas and the gradual development of meaning. Music and mystery share a principle: neither reveals everything at once. A composition may withhold a resolution; a mystery may withhold the meaning of a clue. In both, the audience is invited to remain attentive to what returns in a different form — an instinct I trace back to years of studying how people actually learn. This science fantasy world stands apart from my earlier mythic fantasy, *The Rose of Silver Leaves*, while sharing the same interest in imagination and human perception.
